XML based approach defining control system behavior as well as data integration process paves the road to create Distributed Knowledge and Process systems. The next step is to unite them into federations.

Presentation factories allow set of frameworks-services to serve corporate clients accessing system repository with multiple types of devices from corporate workstation to wireless phone or PDA. Services manifest their availability via Service Registries.

In order to make the Web services model palatable, businesses must be able to leverage existing application assets and expose them as Web services. New standards and technologies such as UDDI, ebXML, XML-frameworks allow building Service Registry Centers.
